Profile
Burren Guided Walks and Hikes is a walking and hiking guiding service based in the village of Fanore, on the northwest coast of the Burren in County Clare. Run by experienced local guide Mary Howard, it offers walks throughout the year across one of Ireland’s most distinctive landscapes, an area known for its limestone terrain, unusual rock formations, archaeology, and rich flora and fauna.
Outings range from short rambles of around two hours to half-day and full-day walks and hikes, with all levels of fitness and experience catered for, from gentle strolls to more challenging hill climbs. Walkers can follow the area’s ancient “green roads” or head off the beaten track to explore its more remote corners, learning about the geology, history, and wildlife of the Burren from a guide with a deep knowledge of the region.
Walks suit a range of visitors, including families, and take in the coastal and upland scenery around Fanore and the wider Burren. Pre-booking is advised. For current schedules, meeting points, and prices, contact the operator directly or visit their website.
