Profile
Clare Walks Ltd is a walking company based in the village of Tulla in East County Clare, Ireland. It provides guided walks and information on two of the region’s long-distance trails, giving walkers a way to explore the lakelands, mountains and countryside of this part of the county.
The company arranges bespoke guided walks tailored to a group’s preferences, taking into account distance, walking time, terrain and the kind of landscape you would like to see. Walks can be organised from around 5km up to 25km, typically for groups of between six and twelve people, with larger parties catered for subject to guide availability. Regular guided Rambler walks are also run every second Thursday, led by an experienced guide who shares the landscape and heritage encountered along the way.
The walks draw on two established routes centred on the area. The East Clare Way is a 172km circular trail that crosses the Slieve Bernagh Mountains before descending to the Clare lakeland around Tulla and Feakle, while the Mid Clare Way is a 150km circular route looping around the centre of the county, with a mix of forest track, road, boreen and bog. Between them they offer a range of terrain from gentle loops to more demanding upland stretches, making the company a useful point of contact for anyone wanting to walk in East Clare.
