Profile
Derg Isle Adventure Centre is a family-run activity centre on the western shores of Lough Derg near Scariff, County Clare, within the region marketed as Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands. Set on a lakefront site that the Giblin family has developed over several decades, it opened in its current form as an outdoor activity centre in 2015 and combines water sports with land-based challenges in one lakeside location.
On the water, visitors can try kayaking, Canadian canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding, or hire a boat to get out onto the lake. Full safety equipment such as buoyancy aids and helmets is provided where needed. On land, the centre offers activities including a climbing wall, an obstacle course, archery, and axe and knife throwing, giving groups plenty to fill an afternoon.
The centre caters to families, schools, corporate and sports teams, and social groups, and a typical visit runs from a couple of hours to most of a day. Its position by Lough Derg makes it a convenient base for outdoor activity within easy reach of Ennis, Limerick and Shannon Airport.
