Profile
Dursey Sound is the narrow, fast-flowing channel of water separating Dursey Island from the tip of the Beara Peninsula in County Cork. The tidal currents here run strong, and the sound has long been the crossing point for reaching the island, whether by the cable car overhead or by boat.
As a discovery and embarkation point on the wild Atlantic coast, it offers dramatic sea and cliff scenery and a real sense of the meeting of land and ocean at the south-west edge of Ireland. A memorable stop for those exploring the Beara.
