Edman Collection

The Edman Collection is a range of handcrafted pewter gifts and collectibles produced by Prince August at its factory and visitor centre in Kilnamartyra, near Macroom, County Cork. The business was established in the area by Lars Edman, who brought Prince August’s production from Sweden to Ireland in the mid-1970s, and it remains a family-run operation rooted in the local community.

The collection centres on finely detailed pewter pieces, including themed chess sets, Celtic and legendary miniatures, Irish military figurines, statues and figures of Irish heroes. The site is also known for its licensed Lord of the Rings figures and creatures, designed here and drawn from J.R.R. Tolkien’s work. Many of the pieces are cast and hand-painted on-site by local sculptors and craftspeople.

Set in the Múscraí Gaeltacht, one of the areas where the Irish language is still spoken as a community language, the visitor centre gives guests the chance to see how the intricate pieces are made and to browse the range in the factory shop. The surrounding mid-Cork countryside of lakes, rivers, woodland and hills adds to the appeal of a visit.
