Gus O’Connor’s Pub sits on Fisher Street in the village of Doolin, County Clare, on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. Established in 1832, the pub has grown from a small family bar into one of the best-known names in Irish traditional music, and it remains at the centre of Doolin’s reputation as a gathering place for musicians and visitors from across the world.

Much of that reputation was built after Gus and Doll O’Connor took over the pub in 1956. Doolin’s musical roots run deeper still: folk music from the area was being recorded here for radio as far back as the 1940s, and players closely associated with the pub over the years have included the local whistle player Micho Russell along with other well-known figures in the tradition. Live sessions continue to be part of daily life at the pub, running nightly through the busier spring and summer months and on a reduced schedule over the rest of the year.

Alongside the music, the kitchen serves traditional Irish fare with a strong emphasis on local seafood. The seafood chowder with homemade brown bread is a house speciality, and the menu also runs to dishes such as Irish stew, with options catering for various dietary requirements.
