Morrissey's of Doonbeg

Morrissey’s of Doonbeg is a family-style Irish restaurant and bar on Main Street in the coastal village of Doonbeg, County Clare, along the Wild Atlantic Way. The premises looks out over the Doonbeg River and the ruins of Doonbeg Castle, with both indoor dining and an outdoor terrace.

The kitchen focuses on locally sourced food, and seafood in particular, drawing on catches from the nearby Atlantic waters. Dishes that appear on the menu include the house Atlantic seafood chowder, wild Doonbeg crab claws, homemade scampi with tartare sauce and crispy fish tacos, alongside Irish beef, with vegetarian and gluten-free options also available. A wine list of Irish and international selections accompanies the food.

The restaurant has been recognised with a Michelin Bib Gourmand and has featured in the Michelin Guide over several years, and it won Best Emerging Irish Cuisine in Clare at the RAI Awards in 2023. It is dog-friendly and offers complimentary parking.

Morrissey’s generally opens from March to November. Evening service runs from Tuesday to Sunday, with brunch served on Saturdays and Sundays. As times and seasons can change, it is worth checking directly before visiting.
