Mountshannon Community Market

Mountshannon Community Market is a monthly market held in the lakeside village of Mountshannon on the shores of Lough Derg in County Clare. It centres on the village’s old Market House on the main street, with stalls arranged both indoors and outside, and admission is free.

The market takes place on the first Saturday of each month, running from February through to December (there is no market in January), typically between late morning and mid-afternoon. Around twenty stalls gather each time, offering a changing mix of crafts, organic bread and vegetables, ceramics, books, plants, vintage clothes, natural cosmetics, locally made ferments such as kimchi and sauerkraut, and hot food to suit both vegans and meat-eaters.

Alongside the shopping, the market places a strong emphasis on community, with a social area where visitors can sit, chat or play games. It offers an easy, friendly stop for anyone exploring Mountshannon and the surrounding East Clare and Lough Derg area, with special seasonal markets held around the summer festival period and at Christmas.
