Shannon Golf Club

Shannon Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course on the edge of Shannon in County Clare, close to Shannon Airport and overlooking the Shannon Estuary. Established in 1966 and laid out by the golf architect John D. Harris, it has matured over the decades into one of the better-known inland courses in the west of Ireland.

Measuring around 6,763 yards to a par of 72, the championship layout is framed by fairways of natural meadow grass bordered with spruce, evergreens and a mix of deciduous trees. The greens are well protected by bunkers, and water comes into play on several holes. The par-three 17th is regarded as the signature hole, asking for a tee shot played towards the estuary to a guarded green, with the finishing par-five 18th offering longer hitters a chance to reach in two.

Over the years the club has hosted amateur championships and welcomed some notable names in the game. There is a bar and restaurant with views across the course and the estuary, along with a driving range, practice area, and club, trolley and buggy hire. Visitors and green-fee golfers are welcome, and on-site parking is available.
