Profile
Southern County Fishing Resort & Activities Resort sits on around 45 acres of landscaped grounds in County Carlow, close to Bagenalstown (Muine Bheag) and roughly ten minutes from the M9 motorway. The setting combines open water and green surroundings, making it a relaxed spot for a day’s fishing or a family outing in the south-east of Ireland.
Angling is at the heart of the resort, which has three stocked lakes holding rainbow trout, brown trout, salmon and carp. Both fly fishing and bait fishing are catered for, with each lake offering its own conditions and challenges to suit everyone from beginners to more experienced anglers. A clubhouse on site includes a tackle shop selling flies and bait, along with rod hire, so visitors can arrive without their own gear.
Beyond the fishing, there is plenty to keep families occupied. The Lake Café overlooks the water and serves hot drinks, light bites, desserts and milkshakes, while the grounds include a playground, a fort play area for children, a beach volleyball court, and picnic and barbecue areas. A train ride around the resort adds to the appeal for younger visitors, and there is free car parking on site.
For current opening times, fishing charges and booking details, it is best to contact the resort directly or check its Facebook page before setting out.
