Profile
West Coast RIB Adventures runs high-speed boat trips along the coast of County Clare, departing from Kilrush Marina at Merchants Quay in the town of Kilrush. Operating on the Wild Atlantic Way, the company uses RIBs (rigid inflatable boats) that carry small groups, allowing them to reach coves, sea stacks and stretches of coastline that larger vessels cannot access.
Tours explore the Shannon Estuary, a Special Area of Conservation known for its resident population of bottlenose dolphins, along with seabirds and other marine life. Trips take in dramatic cliffs, caves and landmarks around the estuary and its islands, including Scattery Island with its monastic and maritime history. The estuary forms the boundary between Clare and Kerry, so some routes also take in the Kerry shoreline opposite.
The operator offers several two-hour sea safaris, including a Cliff and Coast Safari, a Dolphin and Wildlife Safari and a Sunset Safari, typically running at weekends and on selected weekdays through the summer. Private charters are also available for those who prefer a more tailored outing. Sailings depend on weather and sea conditions, and it is worth checking the company’s website for the current schedule and to book ahead.
