Ancestral Line

Ancestral Line is an Irish genealogy and family history service based at Ballynacally in County Clare, in the west of Ireland. It was founded by Séamus O’Donoghue, a genealogist and family historian who grew up in the county and has more than twenty years of experience tracing Irish lineages. He holds diplomas in genealogy research and creative writing and is a member of the Clare Roots Society.

The service offers a range of family tree packages, along with the inspection and correction of existing trees for those who have already begun their research. For visitors travelling to Ireland, Ancestral Line can arrange assisted visits to ancestral homes and locations, with optional photographic and video records of the trip. There is also a self-paced option for people who prefer to progress gradually, and free advice for those carrying out their own research.

Beyond standard packages, Ancestral Line takes on independent commissions for specific historical research projects. As with all genealogy work, a successful trace cannot be guaranteed, but each project is approached thoroughly and with local knowledge of Clare and its records.
