Burren Hill Walks

Burren Hill Walks offers guided walking tours through the Burren, the distinctive limestone landscape of north County Clare. Based at Corkscrew Hill near Ballyvaughan, the walks explore the region on foot and away from the busier roads, taking in its geology, plant life, archaeology, history and farming heritage.

The tours are led by Shane Connolly, a native of the Burren who farms cattle and sheep at Corkscrew Hill and holds qualifications in archaeology and in local and regional studies. Drawing on this local knowledge, the walks cover themes ranging from botany and natural history to the archaeology and long-settled history of the area.

Walks are tailored to suit different levels of fitness and the time available, ranging from short outings of around an hour to longer routes of several hours. The service runs throughout the year, with walks offered more frequently during the summer, and dawn or sunset walks and longer weekend packages can be arranged on request.
