Carlow Genealogy

Carlow Genealogy is the County Carlow section of From-Ireland.net, a free Irish family-history website compiled by Dr Jane Lyons. Rather than a physical visitor attraction, it is an online resource for anyone tracing ancestors from Carlow, in the south-east of Ireland, bringing together transcribed and photographed historical records that can be searched from anywhere.

The Carlow pages gather material drawn from across the county, including gravestone and graveyard records photographed at burial grounds throughout Carlow. These range from churchyards in and around Carlow Town, such as St Mary’s, to sites further afield, among them the ancient monastic burial ground at St Mullin’s, a village on the River Barrow in the south of the county. Alongside the memorial inscriptions are birth, marriage and death entries and other reference sources for the county, including Griffith’s Primary Valuation and Lewis’ Topographical Dictionary.

The records are offered free of charge and are intended to help people research their Carlow roots and place their families in the townlands, parishes and towns where they lived.
