North Clare Sea Kayaking

North Clare Sea Kayaking runs guided sea kayaking tours along the coast of County Clare, setting out from the village of Doolin on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, a short distance from the Cliffs of Moher. The company started in 2010 and welcomes complete beginners as well as more experienced paddlers, with no previous kayaking experience needed to take part.

Trips explore the coastline and inland waters of the region, taking in sheltered bays, sea caves and calm lakes depending on the weather and sea conditions on the day. Options have included paddling around the village of Ballyvaughan with views across Galway Bay and the limestone hills of the Burren, exploring Liscannor Bay, and gentler outings on Inchiquin Lake in the Burren countryside. Routes are chosen to suit the conditions and the ability of the group.

All equipment is provided, including kayaks, wetsuits, jackets and buoyancy aids, and outings are led by local guides trained in kayak rescue and first aid. Stable double kayaks are used for most tours, with singles available on request. Because availability depends on the weather, visitors are encouraged to get in touch in advance to check which tours are running.
