Virginia Golf Club

Virginia Golf Club sits on the shores of Lough Ramor in the town of Virginia, County Cavan, in Ireland’s lakelands. The club was established in 1945 by Mrs Helen McDonnell of the Park Hotel, and the course is laid out on the grounds of the hotel along the Virginia and Ballyjamesduff road. It is easily reached from the N3.

The parkland course has nine holes, with narrow tree-lined fairways and views over the lake. It plays to a par of 64 over roughly 4,139 yards, offering a fair test for players of differing standards despite its modest length. Mature planting and the lakeside setting give the round a quiet, scenic character.

The club welcomes visitors as well as members, with tee times bookable in advance and open days offered through the season. Men’s, ladies’ and junior competitions are held, and the club also takes society bookings. A friendly, community atmosphere among the membership is a recurring theme in how the club describes itself.
